StormBots at BunnyBot 2009

Catlin Gable School hosts an annual pre-season scrimmage for local FIRST teams called "BunnyBot". The event parallels what teams will experience for the real thing (kick off Jan. 9): a 6 week planning and build schedule, a chance to try out new ideas and give team members the opportunity to develop the team skills necessary for a successful program. 17 StormBot team members went to BunnyBot and all but a few had a chance to "drive" the bot under competition conditions, a good way to get the team familiar with game dynamics and pressures. Our software team continues to create bulletproof routines as our bot didn't falter once. And unlike last year, our bot didn't explode plastice shards and leave pieces of the bot on the playing field after each match. In fact, we were one of a few of the 14 or so teams that participated that "survived" every round we were called to compete in. We did have one breakage problem when our plastic lift was broken in half. But thanks to the quick thinking and fast action of our pit crew, the damage was repaired in time for us to get in to the next round and the fix lasted the rest of the time we were there. On the whole, BunnyBot gave us a chance to show our "stuff." The whole team deserves kudos for the success we experienced at BunnyBot 2009.
